Glenariff is a beautiful forest about 20 minutes from where I live in a place called The Glens of Antrim. I have tried to convey my feelings about the place, the distant patchwork fields, the river, the vegetation and the wildlife. In particular, this piece is a kind of homage to the abundance of ferns that grow there, and their spiral shapes as they uncoil. I made some sketches of these once while out walking there with my family, and the idea for this piece came from that, so sketchbooks really are useful!
